Diesel driver experiences take place on a day when the railway is otherwise closed and are offered on our DEMU Thumper unit 1133 at a cost of £350. After an initial briefing you will undertake the pre-operating checks and inspections before starting the engine. You will drive the train for 7 return trips down the line, to a total of 14 miles. The initial 3 trips are low speed and focus on control and accuracy of braking. After a break for a mug of tea/coffee, you progress to faster trips which test your ability to stop accurately from higher speed. The final trip will be a full line speed trip.
